Paying for last minute changes…

The following diagrams will explain:

Please see below my team as at 11.28 on Saturday morning (the deadline for transfers for this gameweek being 11.30am):

Ok, so the above screen print was taken on Friday morning, but the team was the same on Saturday morning at 11am when I decided to make some changes.  Lukaku looked doubtful to play for Everton and I didn’t fancy Crystal Palace, and Delaney’s, chances of keeping 2 clean sheets Away at Arsenal and Man Utd, so I thought it would be a good idea to get rid of him as well.  Given that this week was so important, I thought the 8 point hit would be worthwhile, particularly if I replaced them both with players that had a game next week.

I had also been busy analysing whether a player with 2 games this gameweek would stand a better chance of scoring more points this week, or on gameweek 37 where a few teams have another double game week… and I determined that this week was THE week to play my triple captain!  However, I then decided that Sergio Aguero would no longer be the correct Captain for Crouchy’s Robots this week – and plumped for someone different instead… please see below the latest position excluding Man City’s draw this evening with Newcastle…

So Bellerin in for Delaney… sensible call, been in great form of late and with Palace and WBA coming up this week – as well as a game next week – it was a pretty obvious choice.  Then Rashford in for Lukaku – so a bit more risky but given the form he’s been in of late, not a huge gamble… and a really good call compared to all those who put Martial in only to see him start on the bench!  How I laughed… until of course Liverpool lined up to play against Bournemouth on Sunday and COUTINHO WAS ON THE BENCH!!!  Now I like Klopp, and I think he’ll make us great again, but Jurgen – come on now mate, he’s my triple captain this week!!  Lets hope for a hat trick against Everton otherwise I will be very disappointed… particularly as my vice captain is Ozil who also did nothing against Palace!  Just to justify my thinking, midfielders score more points per goal, they also get a point for a clean sheet, and are statistically more likely to assist – so I thought, as it’s my triple captain, that would be the best bet… it wasn’t!  Just goes to show that, for all the thinking in the world, sometimes you should just follow your gut!!

So another up and down week, but at least I’ve got Aguero in my team – and I’m pretty pleased with Townsend as well… I think he should be in for a shout for an England call up if his recent form continues – to stand out in that team at the moment is testament to his quality and let’s not forget that he was England’s best player in the qualifiers!

Oh yeah, and Courtois and Vardy is a bit of stitch up isn’t it?!  Just when I’d managed to manoeuvre 11 players starting next week – I’m now down to 9!!

All the best for the week! #Fantasypremierscout
